Patty and the Cakes ! Live at Whetstone Station !
May 18, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Patty and the Cakes is a homegrown, rockin’ dance band. Patty Carpenter, vocals and keys, is known to local audiences for her work in a number of musical genre bending forms, including jazz, R&B, blues, Americana, and originals. She also works and performs as a singer-songwriter and her last CD, Come Over is rooted in her life in Vermont her friendship with co-writer, noted poet, Verandah Porche. She divides her time these days between Guilford, and Brooklyn. I have a home and a band in each place, so I feel very lucky, it is truly the “best of both worlds.’’
The Cakes also features the great New Orleans inflected vocals and guitar work of Tony Hecht, and is underscored by the strong rhythm combo of Steve Frankel (bass) and Ben Carr ( also of the Ben Carr Music Project, on drums). Jon Weeks, who plays with Alfia, Viva Quetzal, and many other great local bands, will be using his multi-musical abilities playing sax, flute and percussion, and the gifted Jeremy Gold will soar on the violin.
The band will play some blues, some originals, and a bunch of familiar grooving dance tunes from Dr John to Etta James.
